Questions about Soapish Soap

cold process soap

Soap is made by mixing fatty acids (oils) with a base (alkali or lye) that chemically combines to form soap. I use the cold process soap making method, which means I don’t add any heat to the soapmaking process. My soaps are then cured for at least 4 weeks to create a long lasting mild bar.

No. Although lye is needed to make any form of soap, by the time the chemical reaction between the oils and lye is complete, there is no longer lye in the finished soap.

In an nutshell, handmade soap is better than commercially produced soap. It’s better for the skin, and better for the environment.

My soaps are made of olive and coconut oils, plus they include cocoa and shea butters which nourish the skin. Commercially produced soaps have cheap oils and detergents that strip skin of beneficial oils.

My handcrafted soaps also contain glycerin which occurs naturally in the soapmaking process. Glycerine draws moisture to the skin, so your skin stays smooth and soft. Commercially produced soaps actually remove all of the glycerine from their soaps so they can be sold separately (but it’s good stuff and should be left in the soap!)

My soaps have no preservatives, no artificial bubbling agents, and the best part is they are crafted by human hands instead of a machine!
